CILICIA. Tarsos. Pharnabazos, Persian military commander, 380-374/3 BC. Stater (Silver, 21 mm, 10.55 g, 12 h), circa 380-379. Diademed female head facing slightly to left, wearing pendant earrings and elaborate necklace; to lower left, dolphin left. Rev. π‘‚π‘ƒπ‘π‘Šπ‘†π‘ƒ ('frnbz klk' in Aramaic) Bearded head of Ares (?) to left, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with a volute on the bowl and slight drapery around neck. Casabonne Series 3. Moysey Issue 3. SNG Levante -. SNG Paris -. SNG von Aulock 5920-1. A fresh and attractive piece with a bold head of Ares (?). Light cleaning scratches and the obverse struck somewhat off center, otherwise, good very fine.
